BCSSA is accepting applications for 2021 Scholarship

For Swimmers:
Regional Scholarships:

Each year, BCSSA awards eight (8) scholarships of $1,000 each. Each region is allocated 1 winner. The winners are evaluated on the following criteria:

The applicant must be a current BCSSA athlete in grade 12 that has been accepted into a post-secondary institution (include letter of acceptance with application)
The applicant must describe their involvement in the community as part of application
The applicant must describe their involvement and experience in BCSSA (club & region)
The applicant must submit 2 references: one that is BCSSA related and familiar with their involvement in BCSSA, and one that is a personal reference

For Coaches:

1. The Ian Allen Scholarship (established 2013) is awarded to deserving current and/or past BCSSA member who are planning to, or are presently attending post-secondary institution, in recognition of their commitment and dedication to BCSSA and the community. In a regular year, these scholarships are awarded at the annual BCSSA Provincial Championships Awards Social, or another event of similar stature. Preference is given to individuals who have not previously been awarded a BCSSA scholarship or prize."

2. BCSSA COACH Scholarship
Scholarship deadline 4 PM PST, June 25, 2021

Each year, BCSSA recognizes a BCSSA Coach who is returning to complete their education at a post-secondary institution with a $500 award, payable towards tuition. Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria:

Must have been a registered coach with BCSSA for a minimum of three (3) years
Must possess minimum NCCP Fundamental Coaching Certification (Level 1)
Must be returning to a post-secondary instutition as a full-time student after having successfully completed at least one year of study.
Applications must include a personal statement, detailing his/her coaching philosophy, academic background and BCSSA involvement. This must not exceed 500 words.
